Our agency has substantial experience in representing financial services industry clients and, in particular, asset managers, investment bankers and advisors. While our bread and butter work in this sector is media relations, we also do a good deal of marketing communications support work – primarily competitive market research, assisting in event management, capability brochures, websites, and annual reports.
· Goldman Sachs Asset Management, representing a wide range of GSAM’s third-party and institutional businesses.
· Arlington Asset Investment Corporation (formerly Friedman, Billings, Ramsey Group, Inc.) and FBR Capital Markets – a seven-year relationship – executing media relations, media training, earnings releases, website development, annual reports, and capability brochures.
· Across-the-board representation of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette for 22 years, including going private, going public, the acquisition and subsequent disposition of ACLI, the development of its fixed income and investment banking businesses, the acquisition of London-based Phoenix, the launch of its European banking business, the launch of DLJdirect, and the eventual sale of the company to CSFB.
· Representation of DLJ subsidiaries Pershing & Co., Wood, Struthers & Winthrop and The Sprout Group.
· A 20-year relationship with Alliance Capital Management, including development of the media strategy and messaging for the acquisition of Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., which combined the leading practitioners of value and growth styles.
· The promotion of the portfolio management team of the Templeton Funds through financial and industry trade media with a goal of positioning the group for an eventual sale. In the process, we helped to greatly strengthen the public profiles of Mark Mobius and Mark Holowesko, among others, and we also handled all communications for both sides when Franklin eventually acquired Templeton.
· The launch of both Value Line’s mutual fund print survey and its electronic mutual fund product – we also helped launch its electronic equities analysis product and promoted the company’s benchmark product, The Value Line Investment Survey.
· Representation of The Boston Stock Exchange, a 17-year relationship, in all aspects of its business, including the launch of the BOX Options Exchange.
· Represented Mitchell Hutchins for four years, promoting Don Marron and the firm’s research product prior to and after its merger with PaineWebber.
· Represented U.S. Trust for 10 years with a focus on promoting its services to high-net-worth clients.

This breadth of experience underscores our basic marketing message – we are a small shop that does very good work for substantial clients with whom we typically have long-term relationships, and, most importantly, we know the financial service/asset management space well.
Our representation of professional service organizations has included work for accounting, actuarial, law, executive search, outplacement, and management consulting firms.
We were the first agency to provide communications counsel and marketing services on a national basis to one of the top three accounting firms, and we currently serve one of the largest U.S. actuarial consulting firms. We understand the culture of professional service firms and are accustomed to dealing one-on-one with senior-level partners. Equally important, our work with law, accounting, actuarial, and financial service industry companies has led to the accumulation of substantial experience in understanding and presenting complex issues to the national and trade media.
For over a decade we worked with career consulting, outplacement and executive coaching firms in positioning major corporate career issues and our clients’ senior executives to the national, regional, trade, and online media. As one example, our long-term relationship with Drake Beam Morin established this firm as the nations’ largest and one of the leading outplacement firms, and the employment surveys we developed for DBM became benchmarks within the industry.
Donley’s work for law firms, an outgrowth of our activities for other professional service organizations, is typical of the services we provide in the professional service sector. We have served more than 25 law firms ranging in size from 20-person partnerships to-top tier national firms. Clients have included Fried Frank, White & Case, Cadwalader, Milbank Tweed, Cummings & Lockwood, Piper & Marbury, Windels Marx, Haight Gardner, Nutter McClennen & Fish, and Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels.

Among the healthcare sector services we offer are:

· New product launches (launch materials, media relations and media events)
Over the years, not-for-profit and government-related clients have included The American Arbitration Association, The Conference Board, The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, TechnoServe International, the Overseas Press Club of New York (pro bono), the German Industrial Development Board, the Gibraltar Information Bureau, the National Soft Drink Association, the Museum of Modern Art (New York), the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, and The Episcopal Church USA. Projects undertaken include:
· The launch of The Conference Board’s Help Wanted On Line Data Series, a monthly index.
· The generation of wide media exposure for two of the Alliance Capital Management Foundation’s philanthropic initiatives: The Inner City High School Adoption Program and The Dress for Success Program: a venture that actively involved volunteers from the ranks of Alliance Capital’s employees and many of NYC’s prominent retail stores, whereby clothing was donated and distributed to disadvantaged women along with career mentoring and job placement services.
· On behalf of the Episcopal Diocese of New York City, Donley implemented media relations for Ambassador Richard Holbrooke’s lectures sponsored by the Office of the Anglican Observer at the United Nations and for The Episcopal Council’s Symposium on Science and Faith sponsored by the Theological School of Drew University.
· The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, advice on an ongoing project.
· Advising the Museum of Modern Art on media, member and community communications when it sold its air rights, permitting the construction of residential condominiums adjacent to the museum.
We have been involved in the promotion of fuel cells since 1991, and through that work we have come to know the industry, its issues, and the media which cover this market. We have developed relationships with national and regional reporters covering energy, environmental issues, transportation, auto, and portable and stationary power generation technology. We also know the print and online media and organizations that cover the political and investment angles relating to energy topics. Because of our expertise, we were asked to and participated in a two-day consultation session to help develop a communications program for hydrogen and fuel cells for the Department of Energy. Our past experience includes:
· Fuel Cell Today: The leading organization for market-based intelligence on the fuel cell industry. In September 2001, we introduced this industry information portal, www.fuelcelltoday.com, by pursuing the energy, environmental, industrial, technology, science, transportation, and website media, and by contacting relevant industry trade organizations. We publicized FCT’s new worldwide research on the status of the fuel cell industry. Along with national distribution, we arranged in-person interviews for FCT’s director with Newsweek, The New York Times, US News & World Report, The Economist, The Detroit News, Dow Jones, Bloomberg, Reuters, Greenwire/EEP and Inside Energy. We also arranged meetings with alternative energy directors at environmental advocacy groups in both New York and Washington DC. We conducted a nationwide media campaign outreach for FCT focused on the venture capital and private equity clean tech community.
· Johnson Matthey: For this London-based specialty chemicals and precious metals company – a client for over 20 years – we have conducted extensive communications programs focused on platinum’s uses and supply/demand fundamentals in a broad range of industries, including fuel cells, catalytic converters, transportation, energy, investment, jewelry, and environmental concerns. Each campaign has been targeted to specific audiences, including consumers, business-to-business professionals, environmental advocacy groups, manufacturers, retailers, brokers and analysts, and energy-related organizations. Our programs have included multi-city press tours and press conferences, nationwide educational seminars, the development of information centers, surveys, writing and production of brochures, video development, design contests, strategic counseling and issues development, spokesperson training, media interviews, and placement of articles nationwide.
· World Fuel Cell Council: We worked with the WFCC, based in Frankfurt, Germany, to publicize a white paper on fuel cells, developed in conjunction with Arthur D. Little. Our goal was to increase knowledge about the status of the industry, to position the WFCC as a major information source, and to increase awareness of fuel cells as a clean and viable energy source among consumers, businesses, manufacturers, science organizations, and environmental advocacy groups. Donley arranged a press briefing in New York and secured story placements nationwide, including articles in Popular Science (cover story), Research and Development Magazine(cover story), Environmental Science & Technology, The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe, Associated Press, Journal of Commerce, American Metal Market, Energy User News, New Fuels Report, and The Energy Daily.
